Welcome to the Church of England in Saddleworth

The Church of England in Saddleworth worships God revealed to us in Jesus Christ. We welcome all who seek God, regardless of race, age, gender, or sexual orientation. We affirm that the Church's mission, in obedience with Holy Scripture is to proclaim the unfailing love of God in every generation. We are a team of nine churches serving our community through prayer and friendship.

We need a new Team Rector!

The PCCs and Patrons are seeking a prayerful, pastoral, and outward-looking priest to serve as Team Rector for our seven villages, set in a beautiful countryside context with deep roots in local community life.

Each church has its own character and history, and we are united by a shared commitment to worship, service, and mission. Together, we value collaborative ministry, good humour, and a strong sense of belonging - across generations and traditions.

Easter 2026
A Message from Revd Sachin

This Easter, we celebrate the heart of our Christian faith: that Jesus Christ is risen from the dead. In His resurrection, we see the fullness of God’s love. Love that conquers fear, defeats death, and opens the way to new life.

Easter reminds us that no darkness, no suffering, and no sin can separate us from God’s transforming grace.

In our daily lives, we may encounter moments of struggle, doubt, or loss. Yet the resurrection calls us to hope. Christ’s rising is a promise: that God is always at work, renewing, restoring and bringing life even where it seems impossible. We are invited not only to remember this truth but to live it, to carry resurrection hope into our families, communities, and our own hearts.

During Holy Week, we come together to walk with Jesus through the events that led to the cross and the joy of Easter morning.

I warmly invite you to join us, whether in church, online, or in your own prayers, to reflect on God’s incredible love and the new life offered to all who follow Him.

May this Easter fill you with peace, courage, and the joy of God’s presence. Christ is risen!

With every blessing,

Revd. Sachin S. Awale

Team Vicar, Benefice of Saddleworth

Announcement by the
Diocese of Manchester.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of the Revd Sachin Awale, currently Team Vicar in the Saddleworth Team, Rochdale Archdeaconry, Diocese of Manchester, as the Team Rector (Incumbent) of the Benefice of Astley, Tyldesley and Mosley Common, Salford Deanery in the Archdeaconry of Salford, Diocese of Manchester.

Sachin writes:

"I am delighted and humbled to have been called to serve as Team Rector in the Astley, Tyldesley, and Mosley Common benefice. My family and I are really looking forward to joining the ATMC team and seeing how God will guide us as we serve Him together.

At the same time, it is with gratitude and some sadness that we prepare to leave Saddleworth, where we have grown, worshipped and shared many joyful and challenging moments. We give thanks to God for the support, friendship and encouragement we have received and we pray that He will continue to guide all of us.

As I step into this new role, I ask for your prayers for me, my family, and for both communities trusting in God’s promise that He has plans for hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11)."

The date for Sachin’s licensing is yet to be arranged.
