About Us

Our church is situated in the picturesque village of Greenfield in the heart of the Saddleworth Moors. The church dates back to 1875 and is one of seven parishes within the Church of England in Saddleworth.

Nestled next to the beautiful Dovestones Reservoir, we offer spiritual support to our congregation and a warm welcome to all.  We are extremely fortunate to have a thriving congregation, which spans several generations, and a very strong partnership with St Mary’s Greenfield C of E Primary School. 

The church is at the heart of the community in Greenfield and is proud to have its own voluntarily run charity shop in the village, which supports the church and the local community. 

The church building is used by a variety of local community groups and plans are afoot to carry out further improvements, which are designed to ensure that Greenfield residents and those wider afield can make more use of this beautiful space. Also attached to and supported by our church are the Beavers, Cubs and Scout Groups, who meet weekly at the school.

Over recent years the church has undergone substantial refurbishment, made possible by a dedicated fund-raising team and grants from English Heritage. The spire and masonry were repaired in 2009, followed by an overhaul of the chancel, nave, vestry roof and certain masonry in 2010. At the same time some of the beautiful stained glass windows were restored to their former glory. A toilet and kitchen extension was added in 2016.
